The following are some of the more common questions we get asked about our service along with the answers we give. If these don't cover your question  then please don't hesitate to ask us. Details on how to contact us are also included below.
  

Q. How long does it normally take to build a Milestone Announcement page?

A. Well, once we have the pictures and your message we can normally have the Milestone Announcement page ready for your review within 48 hours. You then get the opportunity to request for changes prior to us sending out the invitations to Family and Friends to visit the page. Obviously, if you have ordered a Silver and Gold package, then they can also leave their own messages in the GuestBook when visiting the page.

Q. Is there enough time to get a Milestone Announcement page ready?

A. At a real push it can all be done (and has been done) in 24 hours. But in reality to give Family and Friends time to visit the site, leave their messages and for word to spread it's best to have at least 2 clear working days from when the page is ready. We say working days as some email addresses will be Work addresses and therefore not always accessed during a weekend. 

So in total that means we need to start 4 or 5 days before the Milestone for a comfortable timescale. Less than that is do-able but we both need to be focused on the task in-hand. Now that we can be, you can count on that! 

Q. Can I change my message?

A. Sure, whilst we ask you for the message you want displayed on the Milestone Announcement page at the time of placing the booking we can change it for you. Ideally this should all be completed before we send out the invites but if you wish we can make changes right up to the day of the Milestone itself.

Q. I don't want everyone to be able to view my Milestone page can I restrict who sees it?

A. Yes, when you book the page you can request that it is "Invitation Only". By selecting this option we will not include your page on any of the main BIGMilestones websites or in the Archive. It will therefore not be possible to access it by following any links from the BIGMIlestones website itself. The only way people will be able to access it will be by a unique address which goes straight to your page. This unique address will only be included on the Invites we send out. So only those people you have invited will be able to access it. We do however normally request that those invited also spread the word, but again this is restricted to people that know your Relative or Friend so it is  still limited access.

Q. Can the Congratulatory email be sent on a different date to the actual Milestone?

A. Yes, the processes of building your Milestone Announcement page, emailing out the invites and finally sending the Congratulatory email are all performed manually. So we can be as flexible as you need us to be. It's actually not uncommon to send them out prior to the BIG day to coincide with a Party or just so it's on a weekday. 

Q. What do you need to prepare the Milestone Announcement page?

A. The details we require to start to build the site are all included on the Booking form which is accessed from the booking site ( http://www.bigmilestones.com/bookit_milestone.html ). The other things we will require are obviously the pictures and the email addresses of the Family and Friends whom you wish  us to send the Invites too. Please note that we appreciate it's not always as easy to get the lists of email addresses together as we all think so we will also happily email the invites out in "batches".

Q. How do we get the pictures to you?

A. You send the pictures to us as attachments to emails. This means they must first be in a format that you can email. To convert physical pictures to such formats you need to get then scanned using a scanner. This will normally provide the output in either .jpg, .gif or .bmp formats. We can accept other formats but it is best to ask.  

Once you have them in an acceptable format you then then either attach them to an email and send them to us at  photos@bigmilestones.com or simpler still attach them to our email response to your initial booking. That way we ensure that we can tie the pictures to the right Milestone Announcement page. 

Finally, once we have the pictures we then crop and resize them to gain maximum effect on the page.

Q. What if I don't have a scanner?

A. Well simplest answer is to ask around. It is not an uncommon piece of equipment nowadays so many of your friends may actually have one. Failing that many "print and copy" shops also now offer a scan service so you could try them too.

Q. Can we have background music ?

A. We can build your Milestone Announcement page with or without "music". However, to ensure that we provide a page which has an acceptable load time we have to limit it to instrumental backing tracks. These are called "midi" files. Adding vocals can significantly add to the lead time and make it unusable. However, "midi" versions of most music are normally available and we will happily add it to your page if you can source the specific music for us.  

If you have any special requests just email them to us on a reply to one of our emails. That way we will always be able to link it back to your unique Milestone Announcement page. 

Q. Can you tailor the page format to meet my specific needs?

A. We firmly believe that as Milestone events don't happen every day we need to do what we can to help you make it something really special. So if you have any special requests - just ask! We can't promise to be able to meet all of them but we will at least try. 

Again, if you have any special requests just email them to us on a reply to one of our emails. That way we will always be able to link it back to your unique Milestone Announcement page.
